Horrendous

(Family with young children, 1 review, 0 photos)

  • Stayed Jun 2012 Review submitted

Liked: The campfire, the forest location.

Disliked: The pitch was dirty when we arrived, rubbish everywhere and glass around the campfire spot - not great when you have kids running around.

Dirty toilets and shower facilities.

No less than 2 different groups of campers playing loud music until 4am. And no one came round to tell them to turn it off. We had 3 young children with us who could not sleep through the racket. We all gave up and got up at ...

Always love it

(Young couple, 1 review, 0 photos)

  • Stayed Sep 2010 Review submitted
  • Stayed in: Tent pitches
  • Would recommend to friends

Liked: Loved loads of things!!
1- Variety of different pitches, e.g.:

FIELD 1 Large families, caravans, not allowed fires.

FIELD 2 Families + dog, allowed to light fire, still lots going on, other kids for children to play with, great for couples, but still relaxing (personally my FAV field).

FIELD 6 - Large groups of teenagers, loud music (until 10-11 because it gets stopped) Allowed fires.

FIELD 3 4 5 - Similar to field 2 but alot more ...

Disliked: Hmm, hard to say really, other than, when driving up to field 2, there is quite a steep hill, and if driving and it has rained, have fun getting up there, and down. But not a major problem, just need to know how to drive haha!!

Liked: Epping Forest.

Disliked: We were initially excited by the prospect of this lovely sounding campsite, and upon calling to make a booking, our expectations for a weekend away were sky high after chatting to the lovely lady on the end of the phone who told us that it wasn't necessary to book, but just turn up the following day.

Imagine our surprise when on arrival, we had a rude and indifferent welcome, pointing out that we didn ...

OK campsite but poor management

(With friends, 1 review, 0 photos)

  • Stayed Sep 2009 Review submitted
  • Stayed in: Tent pitches
  • Would not recommend to friends
  • Would not visit again

Liked: Fire pits

Disliked: My bag was stolen from inside tent when we were sitting about 8m away and a child was sleeping inside. When we reported it to security and reception they said that it had happened a lot. WHY NO SIGN IN RECEPTION WARNING US?
Also lots of nails in bits of wood on site - 3 of us went home with punctures. Not a cheap weekend at all.
