Housedean Farm Campsite is within the South Downs National Park and directly on the South Downs Way. We are uniquely located for walkers of the South Downs because there is no need to deviate from the national trail at the end of the day. Some of the most popular spots on the Downs are within an easy walk (Ditchling Beacon, Firle Beacon, Devil's Dyke).

We pride ourselves on a laid back atmosphere and there are amazing views of the South Downs from every pitch. There are 23 spacious pitches, each with its own firepit for campfires.

A frequent bus service stops directly outside the campsite and runs to and from Brighton and Lewes. This makes the site great for those wishing to visit Brighton without the cost and difficulty of parking.

The site has excellent flushing loos (that we keep scrupulously clean!) and three hot showers in separate wooden enclosures (one of which is open air). There are also two washing-up sinks.

Nearby attractions and activities

Lewes is located four miles away and is easily reachable by bus or car. Alternatively there is a cycle path from the campsite to Lewes or it is possible to walk over the Downs. Brighton is approximately seven miles away, and buses run from the campsite. All major attractions within the eastern half of the South Downs are within easy driving distance.

Liked: **The shower/toilet facilities were very good. Although the shower is an outdoor one, it is very in-keeping with the whole camping experience that Housedean farm is trying to achieve.

**Very quiet campsite (at least while we were there)

** Every pitch is a very good size with your own designated fire pit so you can have your own fire.

** The views from the campsite are amazing and theres a wide variety of good walks through ...

Disliked: ** The campsite is on a hill, the only truly flat part being at the edge of the campsite, at the bottom of the hill. Obviously this is a bit of a problem as if it rained heavily all the water would run down the hill into your tent!! We pitched at the top of the hill to prevent this but that was really the only pitch I could see where you wouldn't get washed ...

Hi there, thanks very much for the comments and glad that you enjoyed your stay. Unfortunately the topography and the road are 2 things that we can't control! However, rest assured that however much it rains, the bottom of the field never gets waterlogged - its the main benefit of the site being on chalk ground. Its very well drained! Hope to see you again.
