See all facilities…If your other half keeps carping on about needing a break, bring them to wrestle some monster carp from the depths of Chester Lakes instead. With seven teeming fishing lakes languishing amidst acres of lush fields in the gorgeous Cheshire countryside, it’s the kind of place that anglers’ breams are made of. Better still, the site is only minutes from the bustling charms of Chester for anyone in your party who is less keen on waggling a pole, or you could just get back to nature and watch the world and wildlife go by from beside your pitch...
There are spacious and well spread out camping pitches right on the water’s edge for romantic types or anglers who want to get the day’s first bite, with child-friendly pitches well away from the water’s edge, and plenty of electric pitches with even more space elsewhere on the site. The amenities are plentiful too, with ten showers, fourteen loos and wash down facilities.
Elsewhere on site, there’s a top-notch tackle shop on site, plus expert fishing tuition from Dave the fisheries manager and rod hire if required. The fishy residents are partial to a bit of luncheon meat, apparently - but if you’re feeling peckish, there’s no need to resort to eating your bait: the Chester Lakes café serves up a fortifying full English and lots of other tasty treats, and there’s even a sweet shop for the kids.
Rallies and large groups are welcome, and additional activities such as horse riding, paintballing and quad biking can be arranged.
Carpe diem, we say - what are you waiting for?
Nearby attractions and activities
If you can tear yourself away from your rural idyll, you’ll find the cracking city of Chester a mere two miles away. Jump on an open-top bus tour or join a guided walk to explore the historic centre, cruise the River Dee, or simply meander around the ancient city walls, stopping off as the mood takes you. There are museums covering Chester’s Roman and military history, a castle and a majestic cathedral, and the cobbled streets are packed with great restaurants and boutique shops (if you’re a determined shopper, the fantastic Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet is just outside the centre, too). Fancy a flutter? You can enjoy a day at Chester’s historic racecourse between May and September, also only a couple of miles away.
Don’t miss the outstanding Chester Zoo just seven miles away: you’ll need the best part of a day to see all the animals (there are 8000 of them!) and ride the monorail and waterbus. Other potential days out include Tatton Park, for a tour of the elegant mansion and gardens, rare breeds farm, deer park and speciality shops; the Blue Planet Aquarium; Gulliver’s World theme park; or Cheshire Farm Ice Cream, where your little ones can watch the cows being milked, have a ball in the outdoor and indoor play areas, and get stuck into one of the umpteen flavours of delicious homemade ice cream and sorbet (make mine a Raspberry Pavlova).
It’s also a really easy drive from Chester Lakes to the emerald landscapes of North Wales, or if you want to take it very easy, the Red Lion pub is half a mile from the site.

A really relaxing break with a great friendly atmosphere. Laura N. (Young couple, 1 review, 0 photos) Confirmed ?
Liked: The amount of pitches available and the relaxed atmosphere. You were able to pitch up where you liked and we ended up on an island surrounded by a lake. Disliked: One of the showers in the shower room didn't work and the toilets were a little unclean but this can be expected for camping, nothing horrifying! |

Brilliant Site Peter E. (Mature couple, 1 review, 0 photos) Confirmed ?
Liked: Fantastic site we live in Manchester so only 40 mile away, as soon as I drove into the site and seeing the lakes I liked it, Dave greeted us with a smile and immediatly made us feel welcome and was very helpful, we were on a tent pitch by the middle lake and had a marvaless veiw, the pitches were large and we were told we could pitch anywhere, we had an all day breakfast ... Disliked: I think the toilets could have been better, we could not get hotwater for washing the pots, but we just boiled our own, toilets could be a bit of a walk to especially if it is the middle of the night, another toilet block in the middle of the site would help tremendously other than that a great site and will visit again many times. |

Nice break, not far for us to travel but it felt like we were in the middle of wales. Michelle_H1 (Mature couple, 1 review, 0 photos) Confirmed ?
Liked: Dave was nice and welcoming when we arrived, told us about the site and the local area. The quiet little island we pitched our tent on. Our children are grown up now so it was nice to get away from others ha!! The site is so peaceful with all the lakes, although we do not fish ourselves! Disliked: The dish washing area could of been under cover, the taps weren't plumbed in and only a hose for cold water for dishes, did not bother us tho, we just boiled water and did our dishes in our tent, but i'm sure it would of been a hassle for a larger family. There were other dish washing units around but we did not look at those, so cant comment. |

Did the job for one night Jack T. (Young couple, 1 review, 0 photos) Confirmed ?
Liked: Good price, nice setting by the lake, plenty of space, proximity to Chester. Disliked: If I stayed again I wouldn't pitch on the far side of the field as despite the tree line the road is still quite loud. Lots of slugs! |

Amazing place with excellent surroundings Sophie92 (Young couple, 1 review, 0 photos)
Liked: If you love fishing and natural surroundings this is the place for you. Just stayed for two nights with my partner who loves fishing camped on the bankside so he was fishing from 7 in the morning to 1 in the morning! Great value for money paid £20 for 2 nights and that was with all fishing included! Breakfast in the cafe is one of the best, overall really great place with a lot going ... Disliked: Only bad point was the toilet area! No toilet roll for most of the stay not cleaned often enough however there was some young groups of people who could of been leaving them in this state was not a problem in my eyes! |

Liked: Large open pitches (No set places pitch where you like on the grass) Disliked: Dirty Cold Showers (£1 A go which gets quite pricey when there are 4 of you and the run for about 3 minutes) |

This site is particularly pretty having stayed in a fair few over the last few years. The lakes are very serene and there are ducks and geese wandering around. There is also a shop on site and a seating area outside. The owners very extremely helpful. Caroline B. (Family with young children, 1 review, 0 photos) Confirmed ?
Liked: I loved that there was a play area on site as we have a 3 year old. The general atmosphere and scenery of the place was great and there was plenty of room between tents. The owners were great, particularly when we had forgotten our coal, finding us a bag even though they don't actually sell it! Great having a shop on site. Disliked: Quite a bit of Geese poo on the grass unfortunately but not really a problem. |

What more could you want, fishing & camping by the lakes janemurdoch13 (Mature couple, 1 review, 2 photos) Confirmed ?
Liked: Everything about it. Well set out, friendly & welcoming. The fishing is great, guranteed to catch on a regular basis. Not that I'm the fisher person, hubby is. I loved just pitching & sitting by the lake, felt I was a million miles away from everyday life. You can't beat the price either. It's a lovely place to walk around too. The cafe is great & toilets/showers/washing up facilities are more than adequte ... Disliked: Bad feed back about the place that I have read. Saying that toilets & showers weren't clean. They are cleaned everyday, it's the people who use them that have no respect. |

Liked: Beautiful site, perfect location with lakes, staff very friendly Disliked: Toilets very poor and very very far from where we were pitched.....not good when it is raining and having to walk a long way in a muddy field, only access to our field was the same access as the cars so was very muddy. |

very pleasant, open, clean and family friendly site, well thought out, great. barbara l. (Extended family, 1 review, 0 photos) Confirmed ?
Liked: cleanliness, thoughtful, helpfull team. set up wel, well l thought out, cafe great idea when pitching up and taking down tents and for those who may not want to cook. great experience all round. We are looking forward to coming back in three weeks. Disliked: The water needs attaching to the washing up areas and the electric did not seem to work in the ladies toilets. Perhaps some shelves added into the shower rooms as the water tended to build up and there was nowhere to put clothes. Hope this is helpful. |
