Country nights and city sights are easily combined at York Touring Caravan Site, whose peacefully pastoral position is only five miles from the centre of York.
There are sheltered, flat, grassy pitches with or without electricity, a spotless amenities block (including disabled facilities), and the smart café lounge offers unlimited free wifi with even the smallest of purchases.
Bag yourself a bacon roll, then get practising your swing at the on-site driving range, or try the nine-hole “pay and play” golf course (you can hire all the kit you’ll need).
A short walk away is a delectable farm shop and café, where the kids can coo over cute animals and clamber around on tractors and diggers while you salivate over the goodies at the deli counter.
Family groups are usually pitched alongside each other in a single area of the site: great for the kids, who might meet some new mates over a game of badminton or softball in the tent field (other ball games are restricted to a separate, dedicated area); and good for adult-only groups too, who are guaranteed a bit of peace and quiet in the other areas of the park.
Nearby attractions and activities
Corking York is just minutes up the road from York Touring Caravan Site: for a stress-free day, leave the car at the nearby Park and Ride and hop on the shuttle bus into town (cheaper than parking in the city centre). It’s a smashing place to visit, with attractions for all tastes: fascinating interactive exhibits at the Jorvik Viking Centre, gristle and gore at the York Dungeons, the Gothic glory of the Minster, choo-choos galore at the National Railway Museum, as well as fab shopping, eating and nightlife.
Castle Howard, one of the country’s most magnificent stately homes, is also a short drive away from the site; with special events running regularly throughout the year, a farm shop and garden centre, it’s not to be missed.
If you don’t mind travelling a little further, you can head into the North York Moors National Park for dramatic landscapes, pretty villages and wonderful country pubs, or go for a breeze along the beautiful Yorkshire coast, stopping off at Scarborough, Filey or Whitby.

Perfect for the City geoffdelivett (Mature couple, 18 reviews, 33 photos)
Liked: The friendly helpful check in by Andrew, a nice guy. The shower/toilet block. There were ladies and gents, but the main showers are unisex within individual rooms containing shower, wc, hand basin and hair dryer. The layout of the pitches giving plenty of space. Half hourly bus service into York from the gate. Disliked: The ground off the hardstanding was waterlogged, but as York recently experienced floods it's hardly surprising. |

Liked: The showers and toilets were always very clean with plenty of hot water. We used the golf course and after all the rain we had in September the course was a pleasure to be on, the bacon rolls at the club house were very nice too !! The Park and Ride at Monks Cross was another plus. Disliked: None |

UK Summer Family Holiday with our 11 Year Old Karen S. (Family with older children, 1 review, 0 photos) Confirmed ?
Liked: We loved the site, which felt really quiet and rural, despite being close to York. We stayed for five mainly sunny days! Disliked: Although the bus stop was approx the stated distance from the site, access was walking along the side (i.e. no pavement/path) of what turned out to be a fairly busy road, which was not lit at night. We spent a lot of money on cabs into and out of York (15 pounds each way), although we walked to the bus stop on a couple of occasions, and also stayed on the bus to ... |

A lovely quiet, place to stay that is close to lots of the activities found in York. Rebecca D. (Young couple, 1 review, 0 photos) Confirmed ?
Liked: Almost everything; check in was quick and easy, the site was quiet, the facilities really good and I loved the crazy golf. The site is a short drive from two lovely pubs, a great cafe and it is close to a park and ride for York; so great access. Everyone was polite and we didn't have any problems. Disliked: The lack of lighting - it was quite tricky to find the tent at night but it was not a big issue. |

Pleasant site. Good facilities which were kept clean and tidy. Shelley M. (Family with older children, 1 review, 0 photos) Confirmed ?
Liked: The owners responded to our booking request for a pitch near to the facilities as we we had our adult son with us who has a learning disiability. Disliked: Staff did not ask if " we had had a nice stay" or if "everything had been ok",when keys were returned. This would enhance customer service. |
