Listed Site
Country nights and city sights are easily combined at York Touring Caravan Site, whose peacefully pastoral position is only five miles from the centre of York.
There are sheltered, flat, grassy pitches with or without electricity, a spotless amenities block (including disabled facilities), and the smart café lounge offers unlimited free wifi with even the smallest of purchases.
Bag yourself a bacon roll, then get practising your swing at the on-site driving range, or try the nine-hole “pay and play” golf course (you can hire all the kit you’ll need).
A short walk away is a delectable farm shop and café, where the kids can coo over cute animals and clamber around on tractors and diggers while you salivate over the goodies at the deli counter.
Family groups are usually pitched alongside each other in a single area of the site: great for the kids, who might meet some new mates over a game of badminton or softball in the tent field (other ball games are restricted to a separate, dedicated area); and good for adult-only groups too, who are guaranteed a bit of peace and quiet in the other areas of the park.

Corking York is just minutes up the road from York Touring Caravan Site: for a stress-free day, leave the car at the nearby Park and Ride and hop on the shuttle bus into town (cheaper than parking in the city centre). It’s a smashing place to visit, with attractions for all tastes: fascinating interactive exhibits at the Jorvik Viking Centre, gristle and gore at the York Dungeons, the Gothic glory of the Minster, choo-choos galore at the National Railway Museum, as well as fab shopping, eating and nightlife.
Castle Howard, one of the country’s most magnificent stately homes, is also a short drive away from the site; with special events running regularly throughout the year, a farm shop and garden centre, it’s not to be missed.
If you don’t mind travelling a little further, you can head into the North York Moors National Park for dramatic landscapes, pretty villages and wonderful country pubs, or go for a breeze along the beautiful Yorkshire coast, stopping off at Scarborough, Filey or Whitby.

Touring sites near to York billy1932 (With friends)
Liked: We have stayed at the site before a few years ago, and we decided to go again with friends. The site is very clean and secure. We would tell anyone wanting to visit York to stay at this site. We park on Monks Cross retail park, and catch the shuttle bus. Which takes you directly into the town centre. The staff are very friendly. Disliked: Nothing
A great site, lovely facilities at2010 (Young couple)
Liked: Large flat pitches
Disliked: No onsite shop but made up for by the farm shop about 1/2 mile down the road, which had all the basics and lots more.
