See all facilities…

Picture yourself in a quintessentially English scene, basking with a drink to the pleasing thunk of leather hitting willow as you gaze out over the village cricket green, followed by a relaxing stroll through glorious sun-dappled woods and water meadows bursting with wild flowers...

At the Alders Caravan Park, the smart, comfy camping pods are set on a working farm surrounded by idyllic countryside, ideal for woodland walks and wildlife-spotting. This serene, roomy park has excellent facilities and its own small shop, and it’s a mere stroll to other commerces, a restaurant, tennis courts and a children’s playground in the comely village of Alne, in the heart of the Vale of York.

Nearby attractions and activities

In less than half an hour, guests will find all sorts of fun things to do. Take to two wheels for a trip to York (nine miles down the White Rose Cycle Route), which is packed with brilliant stuff including the iconic Minster, Jorvik Viking Centre, museums and interesting shops; hop aboard a train and steam through the glory of the North York Moors; or explore the wildlife and scenery of the Yorkshire Dales via Shanks' pony...

Holidaymakers can revisit Brideshead at the breathtaking Castle Howard palace and gardens, be transported back to the sights and sounds of World War Two at the Eden Camp Museum, and take in the grand National Trust mansions of Beningborough Hall and Nunnington Hall, or the stunning walled gardens at Helmsley. If the kids start being beastly, you can always cart them off to the Flamingo Land zoo and theme park.

This being Yorkshire, you're never far from a bonny watering hole - and there are some cracking food pubs nearby, including The Durham Ox at Crayke, The Star at Harome, and The Rose and Crown at Sutton on the Forest. Visitors can also see how the local ales are made at the Black Sheep Brewery, which naturally offers lots of samples of its award-winning brews.

Liked: Very quite site, pods in pretty setting. Excellent little heater which we needed due to cold weather. Toilet block was clean and lovely to have a proper bathroom to yourself. (2 blocks were available). Previous reviews say take everything you take camping but the tent. We think you should then half it again as the pods are small and you may have to store things outside and in bad weather this is not good. They ...

Disliked: Nothing to dislike. We had a problem when an alarm went off on a stored caravan and the site owners could not contact the van owner and so it went on for 2 days. On our last day, however, we were given a letter asking us to go back for 2 free nights. This goes to prove how fantastic this site is and that they look after their customers.

Liked: Loved it. Warm and clean and as they say. Bring everything apart from the tent.
Lovely clean friendly site. Only there for two nights so didn't bother with the showers!!!!!

Disliked: having to pay 20p for washing up water. IT ONLY AFFECTS CAMPERS. Caravans and motor homes have their own hot water.

We are looking at getting a larger Pod - perhaps in time for your next visit. As for the wasps, well they fill a vital part in the round but if they are a v#nuisance again let us know and we'll hunt them down.

The camping was ideal for my 7 year old grandson and myself. The site was very safe and he enjoyed the freedom, being able to explore and ride around on his bike and scooter. Ideally situated for days out in York and the surrounding area.

Liked: staff were very friendly, the campsite was so quiet considering how busy it was, plenty of room for 4 of us to sleep comfortably with our bags but definately will be bringing an airbed next time.
