Nearby attractions and activities

Snainton is a pretty village which offers golfing and horse riding as well as trout and coarse fishing at the nearby Wykeham Lakes. If you’re feeling chipper, you can book in for a one-to-one woodturning lesson from the experts at the on-site Snainton Woodworking Centre.

The big destination in the area is Scarborough. With 360 years in the tourism trade (it was the country’s first ever seaside resort) this legendary coastal town has plenty of experience in keeping visitors happy. As well as the obvious attractions of the sandy beaches, Italian gardens and the beautiful Peasholm Park, there are trips by boat, open air bus or miniature steam railway, and it’s definitely worth making your way up to the imposing castle on the cliff tops. There’s no need to worry about rain stopping play either, thanks to the classic seaside amusements, Sea Life Marine Sanctuary, art gallery and geological museum. You could even hit the casino...

The town also has a packed programme of events, concerts and festivals running throughout the year, including the famous Scarborough Fair music festival, Seafest, which combines a celebration of the sea with international folk music; and the annual end of season cricket festival, which has been pulling crowds since 1876.

In the opposite direction is the smaller town of Pickering, which is transported back to the 1940s each autumn as part of its annual wartime weekend, but is worth a visit anytime for a trip on the North York Moors Railway, which steams through the National Park from here to Grosmont. Relax and enjoy the ride, try to spot the station used by the Hogwarts Express in the Harry Potter films, or disembark at one of the platforms along the 18-mile journey for some excellent walking in the glorious Yorkshire countryside.

Alternatively, visitors can follow the route taken by their Viking forbears to fun-packed York, home to the Jorvik Viking Centre, the soaringly beautiful architecture of York Minster, the gore and thrills of the York Dungeons, and nationally important railway and air museums.

Other attractions that can be reached in under 30 minutes include: Dalby Forest, which offers excellent birdwatching, wildlife spotting and walking; Castle Howard, one of the most beautiful stately homes in the UK, and a venue for concerts and many other events during the summer months; Flamingo Land theme park and zoo; the World War II museum at Eden Camp; and Go Ape!, a tree top adventure playground where visitors can make like Tarzan on the swings, bridges and zip wires.

Liked: This was our 1st time in our tourer so have nothing to compare it to, however this site was fantastic very clean toilets and showers. We loved the fully serviced pitch. Our boys aged 10 and 6 enjoyed the football pitch and soon made friends. Our little girl aged 2 though the play area with climbing frame swings and rockers was great. We will be visiting again.

Disliked: Nothing

Liked: everything!
lovely location, in beautiful countryside, surrounded by lovely and picturesque villages, but very close to Scarborough if you have a car.
cannot fault the level of cleanliness, Jasmine Park has the cleanest, nicest campsite loos & facilities I've ever seen!
friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, we only met Anna and Sarah, the wardens, but they were amazing, thank you ladies!
good sized, level pitches, not a scrap of litter in sight, unlike other ...

Disliked: it didn't affect us, but we wouldn't have liked to have been pitched in pitch 9 in Brompton Fields, it's directly next to the toilet/shower/dishwash block!

Liked: we thought the site was a lovely clean and spacious the roads were tarmac and the hard standings were large with grass surrounding them the hedges were so tall and made the site very private the barrier system made us happy to let our children roam freely the toilet/shower blocks were spotless and the water in the showers very hot. we would strongly recomend this site for both families with children of all ages ...

Liked: The site facilities were very clean and were kept clean during our stay, the shop had everything we needed (and had forgotten!). We used the site as a base for coast and inland walks and didn't stay on the site during the day but whilst we were there we had no problems getting a shower or using the washing facilities, our small dog was also welcomed.

Disliked: Nothing negative to say, some noise late evening from over zealous campers was delt and wasn't a problem.

There are several great restaurants in the area, however as we are in the countryside everything is a short drive away. Please see our staff for recommendations, we have a selection of menus in the reception to help you choose.

Liked: It was clean and there was a pitch for the boys to play football.

A stones throw away from Scarborough, whitby and Bridlington

Lovely countryside

It was quiet.

The staff were friendly

Disliked: There was no where to refreeze coolbox bar.

No games room for older children.

Unless you had a car, you would not be able to access anything

There were holes in the football nets, which my boys found really annoying.

From the manager...

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. There are a few things i would like to comment on:

1. We do have a freezer service in the shop for ice blocks, had you mentioned this to a member of staff, this would have been explained.
2. We do not advertise that we have a games room, i'm not sure if you have misread this somewhere.
3. We are situated in the countryside and i would agree that if you do not have a car it would be difficult to get around, the nearest bus stop is 3/4 mile away. You have made this a negative comment, however we believe it is a positive as it provides the peace and quiet of the countryside that you enjoyed.
4. I do apologise if there is a hole in the football net, these were replaced at the beginning of the season. We will look into fixing this asap.

If there are any points you would like to discuss directly, please feel free to contact us.

Liked: The location, it was just off the main road but far enough away not to be bothered by the traffic.

The field we camped in was quite big and because there wasn't that many of us there that week, it gave the kids somewhere safe to play whilst being in view still.

Disliked: The shop closing at 5pm. As by the time we had returned from our day out and then realised we'd ran out of something, it meant a trip out in the car again to get it.

Liked: This is a lovely site. There is no clubhouse, no pub on site, no entertainment, nothing but lovely peace and quiet, perfect!

We arrived Thursday after the Aug BH and stayed until Monday. The EHU tent pitches were all occupied over the weekend with people coming and going, however by Sunday night there were just us and another tent, a caravan and a motorhome in the main field.

Toilets are plentiful, never had to queue ...

Please read the park terms and conditions below and the Pitchup.com terms and conditions.

All users of the park must observe these conditions and regulations and any bye-laws applying to the park made by the local authority. Anyone in breach of any conditions may be asked to leave the park.

Reservations are made subject to pitch being vacant.

Pets are welcomed but not allowed in any Park buildings and must be kept on a lead. No fouling on the park - accidents to be cleaned up immediately.

Driving - The speed limit is 5mph. Uninsured, banned and learner drivers are not allowed to drive on the park. Bikes must not be ridden around cars, caravans or toilet blocks.

Waste and rubbish - Wipes, sanitary-wear, nappies and cloths of any kind must not be flushed down the toilets but wrapped and placed in the bin provided. They block our sewage pumps - not pleasant! Please do not drop litter.

Visitors and Security - All guests/visitors are requested to report to reception on arrival and pay the appropriate fee.

Children under 6 years old must be accompanied when using toilet block facilities. Be aware of where your children are and what they are doing. The toilet block and other occupied pitches are not play areas.

Ball games are only allowed in the designated area provided, not on the park.

Noise - please consider others at all times and keep radios, televisions, barking dogs, etc turned down.

Groundsheets - Depending on ground conditions and your length of stay, you may be asked to lift your groundsheet to help preserve the grass for subsequent visitors.

Raised barbecues are allowed if kept away from the trees and do not encroach onto an adjacent pitch.

Smoking - There is a no-smoking policy in all Park-owned buildings.

Motorcycles, quad bikes and battery and petrol powered scooters are not allowed on the park at any time.

Hook-ups are suitable for lighting, TV and low wattage domestic appliances.

We do not accept same-sex or majority same-sex groups on the park i.e. five males / two females.

Minimum Stays - We do have minimum night stays in place over Bank Holiday periods.
