YHA Grinton Lodge is an impressive former gentleman's shooting lodge located in picturesque Swaledale in the Yorkshire Dales. Set in its own extensive grounds within the Yorkshire Dales National Park it offers camping pod accommodation for walkers, cyclists, couples, families and groups. YHA Grinton Lodge includes a comfortable lounge with log fire, TV room, games room, drying room, self-catering kitchen and a beautiful garden with adventure playground. The hostel is fully licensed and offers great food daily.

Our camping pods are situated in our wooded paddock, with views over the surrounding moorland. Our pods have lighting and heating and mains electric, car parking is only 25 yds away, you will have full use of the hostel's facilities, with toilets and showers within the YHA.

We have around 12 tent pitches within the grounds that are great for camping! Average pitch size is about 10m x 10m, though if we are quiet then there is loads of space, and you get to use our fantastic new shower and toilet facilities along with the ground floor facilities inside the Hostel, great for rainy days!

We serve a buffet-style cooked/continental breakfast from 7.30-9.00am (£4.95 / £2.95 under 10’s), and offer packed lunches (£4.50 junior/ £5.50 standard), both of which can be booked on arrival. Home-cooked evening meals are served from 6-7.30pm, with last orders taken at Reception by 7.00pm (prices vary).

Liked: Absolutely lovely - camped for 1 night. Staff were helpful and friendly and even as campers you can use all the facilities on the ground floor - showers, toilets, lounge area, bar area, kitchen, etc.

Outside toilets and showers also lovely and kept very clean.

Disliked: Absolutely nothing!

Liked: The pods are located close to their own, recently refurbed and very tidy bathroom facilities and to the car park. They have picnic benches and bbqs/campfires are allowed if weather is kind. The YHA kitchens are also available if not, and we had an excellent three course meal with wine on our first evening, very welcome and reasonably-priced too! Helpful staff directed us to the mountain bike centre in Reeth, which is worth a ...

Disliked: The pods are clean and tidy but more basic than some, with no bench seats or fridge. Usefully, they do have a good heater and plug sockets for recharging phones etc.

The bathroom lights were on a timer, so needed to open the shower or toilet door and wave our arms around to switch them back on, which was a bit of a pain.
