  • Well-maintained family-owned park on the outskirts of Filey
  • Catch buses to Leeds, York and Hull from the end of the site lane
  • Warm welcome and helpful owners
One Must, if one hasn't already, some time meander towards the utter gorgeousness that is England's North Yorkshire coast. Filey, Scarborough, Bridlington and accessible meanders on the moors can all be had from here, and from Muston Grange Caravan Park on the edge of the Edwardian town of Filey. (And did you know that there's an annual scarecrow festival in these parts? There surely is.) Muston Grange is within 20 minutes' walk of the beaches, gift shops, cafés and amusements of Filey – and if you want to get elsewhere (you surely will), buses and trains run to Scarborough and Bridlington from Filey station and buses to Hull, York and Leeds can be hailed at the end of the park's private lane. You'll find a warm welcome and helpful owners here, along with a grassy area on which to lounge and soak up the sun; the park also has a playground and a small selection of groceries, sweets and ice cream in reception.

Local attractions

The local village of Muston (here be the scarecrow festival) is within walking distance of Muston Grange Caravan Park, as is neighbouring village Hunmanby, which looks down over farmland towards the sea at Filey. After that, Filey first, for its award-winning five-mile sandy beach and access to the 109-mile Cleveland Way, and then certainly North Yorkshire's seaside capital Scarborough, for all sorts of stuff such as more sands, Scarborough Castle, the Italian gardens, the Stephen Joseph Theatre and fresh fare from the fish market. Also see Bridlington, home of 200,000 or so nesting seabirds at the RSPB reserve of Bempton Cliffs, wonderful Whitby, and then other coastal towns like Hornsea, Withernsea and walking the Yorkshire Wolds Way, running Woldswards 79 miles from Hessle to Filey.

Electric optional hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: This site is in a good central location. We were in a campervan so the bus stop at the end of the drive was ideal for us to travel to Scarbourgh & Filey. Pitches are hard standing and have EH and water to hand. EH is metered and you are supplied with a credit of £10 9what you don't use is refunded) We stayed 2 nights and only used £2 of electric. Lots of showers on site but a few were cordoned off to keep people safe, Friendly greeting on arrival.

Disliked: Reception not always manned so you got to ring the bell. There is only a few essentials for sale in reception, a site this big could do with better supplies for campers. Pitches are a bit close together. Lot of all round pitched caravans on site, looking a bit green after being weathered for some time. No Wifi available as it was being repaired at the time of our stay.

Liked: Well looked after pitches, clean and tidy, not too busy although a large site. Fair way of doing electricity charges, easy walk into Filey town and beach without using main roads.

Disliked: Would be too big of a site for us in the summer season
