Tall Trees Leisure Park

8.3 Favourite

There’s an absolute gem of a farm shop at Tall Trees Leisure Park in Cambridgeshire, stuffed to the gills with gourmet goodies like olives, cheeses, chutneys, juices and jams, as well as a good selection of basic provisions. Not forgetting the yummy fresh cream cakes served up in the coffee shop every weekend...

Open all year, this good-value site has 35 pitches for tourers and motorhomes up to 28 feet long, and a dedicated field accommodating 40 tents (all pitches have optional electric hook-up). There’s also a four-acre rally field.

Facilities within the leafy 15-acre site include showers and loos, a washing up area, and a dog walk lined with apple and pear trees. Fishermen may look but not touch when it comes to the pond - it’s filled with koi carp - but fear not: there are great fishing lakes just a couple of miles up the road. Barbecues are also available to hire at reception.

Early arrivals can be arranged with a bit of notice; once you’re in, there’s 24-hour access via a swipe-card barrier.

Nearby attractions and activities

A fifteen-minute walk from Tall Trees Leisure Park leads to the village of Guyhirn: here you’ll find the Oliver Twist pub, where the delish grub may well lead you to ask whether you can have some more; a small ten-pin bowling alley; and a soft play centre for children aged up to eleven.

There are some great places for day trips in the vicinity: Georgian elegance at Peckover House in Wisbech, where you can play croquet on the lawn, wander around the walled gardens, and pore over the Cabinet of Curiosities; Ely Cathedral, which rises majestically above the Fens, one of the country’s most spectacular churches; Peterborough, which offers excellent shopping in the Queensgate Centre, and another lovely cathedral; and the wedding cake-like turrets and spires of Burghley House, near Stamford, where you can explore the sumptuous house and Capability Brown grounds, before a leisurely lunch or afternoon tea in the Orangery.

Liked: Tall Trees is a large campsite and is not far from the A47 so provides a good place for a base camp. On the day of travel received a phone call to confirm booking and an estimated time of arrival. Once there tent was pitched and went for a walk to the pub called The Oliver Twist about 1\2 mile away, it was a bit on the expensive side but understandable as is isolated ...

Disliked: Where electrical pitch up is located next to road so do catch a lot of traffic noise.

Liked: Great quiet location. Friendly very helpful staff. We left early but they had a very nice on site shop/cafe that we would have used if we stayed longer.

Disliked: There was a yappy dog in one of the caravans that seemed to be setting our and other dogs off all night. But this is the owners fault not the campsite..

Liked: Everyone was very helpful & freindly.
The facillities were good and very clean/well maintained.
The on-site farm shop was excellent - everything you could need.
Plenty of space - pitches not too close together. Central location for most places.

Disliked: The road noise - because of where we were positioned on the site (we opted for electrical hook-up) we were adjacent to a road, which although is a 'B' road, was fairly busy, and kept us awake at night a fair bit.

Liked: Staff were really friendly, I arrived early with my partner following later, one of the gentlemen showed me to our piitch and assured I had our caravan positioned where we wanted it, giving me excellent reversing instructions, thank you for that, from a very novice caravan reverser.
Site was nice qnd quiet, within easy reach, approx 5 miles, to good shopping at March.

Disliked: I am afraid the showers did not impress us firstly, and not the owners fault, on 2 occasions people had left used plasters in the shower tray and once clumps of grass, some people just dont consider someone else will be using it after them !!
The other thing is we found it difficult with the shower heads being fixed, I at 5'7" and my partner 5'10" both found they weren't really at ...

Liked: I liked the site very much, we stayed here with 2 other families in the rally field for 2 nights. We were told we could camp where ever we wanted. Lovely walks around the site, which has fruit trees everywhere. Very relaxed site, no noise problem, and staff were very helpful. Showers and toilets were clean and there was plenty of hot water. Lots of water taps and bins around the site. Played rounders in ...

Liked: The Farm shop and tea rooms were great. Lovely friendly staff and the campsite was well looked after.

Disliked: The site was too close to the road and was quite noisy at night. The showers were hot and plenty of water but came out at such an angle that it hit me in the face and over my head and I had to stand on the edge of the shower tray to try and get in the water.

Thank you for your comments regarding our camp-site, Our coffee shop has only been open since last September and we are very please with the response we are getting from our guest, and we do try and look after the site. regarding the road noise, the road we are on is only a “b” road so we just get traffic going between villages, and for the showers we try and accommodate all shapes and sizes and sometime it dose not suit everyone.

Liked: The staff are very nice and will bend over backwards to make sure you get what you need. The site itself is very nice and quiet and clean. Hot water was on site, not like most sites saying hot water when its just about luke warm.

Would use this site again as the prices are the same all year round not like other sites being greedy and put prices up in summer. Thanks for that.

Disliked: shower block looked like portercabins, off putting to look at but they did the trick. Only complaint I had that im only 5 1 and when i pushed the button the water came out and missed me but at least it was hot.

Not much to do for children though in that area but good for adults.

We have a new extra toilet block being fitted in the new touring site, in the next 2 weeks, and we are now on the look out for another shower block.

We look forward to seeing you again, hopefully better weather next time.
