There’s an absolute gem of a farm shop at Tall Trees Leisure Park in Cambridgeshire, stuffed to the gills with gourmet goodies like olives, cheeses, chutneys, juices and jams, as well as a good selection of basic provisions. Not forgetting the yummy fresh cream cakes served up in the coffee shop every weekend...
Open all year, this good-value site has 35 pitches for tourers and motorhomes up to 28 feet long, and a dedicated field accommodating 40 tents (all pitches have optional electric hook-up). There’s also a four-acre rally field.
Facilities within the leafy 15-acre site include showers and loos, a washing up area, and a dog walk lined with apple and pear trees. Fishermen may look but not touch when it comes to the pond - it’s filled with koi carp - but fear not: there are great fishing lakes just a couple of miles up the road. Barbecues are also available to hire at reception.
Early arrivals can be arranged with a bit of notice; once you’re in, there’s 24-hour access via a swipe-card barrier.
Nearby attractions and activities
A fifteen-minute walk from Tall Trees Leisure Park leads to the village of Guyhirn: here you’ll find the Oliver Twist pub, where the delish grub may well lead you to ask whether you can have some more; a small ten-pin bowling alley; and a soft play centre for children aged up to eleven.
There are some great places for day trips in the vicinity: Georgian elegance at Peckover House in Wisbech, where you can play croquet on the lawn, wander around the walled gardens, and pore over the Cabinet of Curiosities; Ely Cathedral, which rises majestically above the Fens, one of the country’s most spectacular churches; Peterborough, which offers excellent shopping in the Queensgate Centre, and another lovely cathedral; and the wedding cake-like turrets and spires of Burghley House, near Stamford, where you can explore the sumptuous house and Capability Brown grounds, before a leisurely lunch or afternoon tea in the Orangery.

Liked: Being in the Fens the campsite was wonderfully flat. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Acres of lovely orchards to stroll through. Plenty of field space for the children to run around in. Short walk to the River Nene and the Nene Way with miles of riverside walks in either direction. Disliked: The showers were of the Portacabin type. The direction of the water for me (5"4") was directed straight at the back of my head and was not adjustable. The shop ran out of bread on the Saturday and didn't get any more in,(It was a Bank Holiday weekend) although there is a Londis at the petrol station about a mile away. |

Liked: Tall Trees is a large campsite and is not far from the A47 so provides a good place for a base camp. On the day of travel received a phone call to confirm booking and an estimated time of arrival. Once there tent was pitched and went for a walk to the pub called The Oliver Twist about 1\2 mile away, it was a bit on the expensive side but understandable as is isolated ... Disliked: Where electrical pitch up is located next to road so do catch a lot of traffic noise. |

Liked: Great quiet location. Friendly very helpful staff. We left early but they had a very nice on site shop/cafe that we would have used if we stayed longer. Disliked: There was a yappy dog in one of the caravans that seemed to be setting our and other dogs off all night. But this is the owners fault not the campsite.. |

Very nice freindly site, clean & well presented, very enjoyable stay. Roy S. (Family with older children, 1 review, 0 photos) Confirmed ?
Liked: Everyone was very helpful & freindly. Disliked: The road noise - because of where we were positioned on the site (we opted for electrical hook-up) we were adjacent to a road, which although is a 'B' road, was fairly busy, and kept us awake at night a fair bit. |
