Imagine drifting past weeping willows, verdant banks and genteel swans in your own private river taxi, before stepping off in the centre of beautiful Stratford-upon-Avon...
For those who think this sounds dreamy, it’s well worth taking a look at the "camping snugs" at Riverside Caravan Park. The comfortable larchwood pods are fully insulated, very secure and have electric lighting and their own fridge. With a sofabed and bunk beds, each pod sleeps four people, and the decking area outside provides good views across the meadow and barbie area to the River Avon. Guests can also enjoy the free fishing along the banks.
Pets are welcome, and there are good basic amenities including a modern shower and toilet block, laundry and dishwashing facilities, plus a clubhouse, shop and café. Kids will enjoy the playground area and can have some good old-fashioned fun feeding the resident ducks.
Nearby attractions and activities
For a change from the river taxi, guests can stroll into Stratford-upon-Avon to take in a play from the Royal Shakespeare Company, have a flutter at the races, or visit the many Shakespeare sights dotted around the city. There’s also excellent retail therapy to be had here, as well as in the elegant surrounding towns of Cheltenham, Royal Leamington Spa and Warwick.
Sporty types will find golf courses, swimming pools and many other facilities nearby, and of course there are plenty of good walking opportunities along the river and out into the lovely Warwickshire countryside.
Further along the banks of the Avon are the stately country house of Charlecote Park, and winsome Warwick Castle, which offers plenty of things to do and see for all ages. Also nearby are the majestic ruins of Kenilworth Castle, where Robert Dudley and Elizabeth I used to make out; or you could follow in the footsteps of the Gunpowder Plotters of 1605 with a visit to Coughton Court. At the Ragley Hall Estate, visitors can take a tour of the Palladian mansion, go sculpture spotting in the Capability Brown parkland, or lose themselves in the 3D maze.
The site is also a great base from which to explore the delightful villages and landscapes of the Cotswolds.

Really enjoyable week. Louisa K. (Family with young children, 1 review, 0 photos) Confirmed ?
Liked: The caravan that we stayed in was spacious with well maintained facilities. The children loved the fact that they still had their own bedroom each! The caravan was lovely and warm particularly as the evenings have still been quite cold. The caravan was spotlessly clean, the beds were made up for us prior to arrival. Disliked: A map of Stratford was in the caravan which was woefully out of date. A museum one of the children wanted to visit had in fact closed down some years previously!! Any old/outdated tourist information should be discarded. |

Excellent place, quiet, peaceful and clean Suhas U. (Family with young children, 1 review, 0 photos) Confirmed ?
Liked: This is the first time I have stayed in a caravan, so didn't really know what to expect, but here are the things I liked: Disliked: * The mattresses were average, I wouldn't rate them highly for comfort. But, then again, this isn't a posh hotel... so not sure what to expect. |

Liked: Very well built & kept us warm on cold summer nights. Loved the location with a great view, & area to walk our dog. The decking was really nice, & was usefull having table & chairs provided. Also, great to have electricity & a fridge. Would recommend the 'camping pack' - saved us a lot of packing & had everything we needed. We were lucky with the weather & had a great time. The river boat trip to Stratford-upon-avon centre was fab! Disliked: The designated toilet/washrrom facilities for the snugs is small & disappointing. |

snugs are lovely but covered outdoor space is needed ninah9271 (Family with older children, 1 review, 0 photos)
Liked: We loved the location, we loved the people and staff, we loved Richard the cleaner who looked after us so well, we loved the warmth and comfort of the snug! Disliked: The lack of covered outdoor space or the ability to put up a gazebo really needs adressing. We hired a camping kit to save some money by cooking for ourselves, the kit went back unused apart from the kettle and mugs due to not being able to cook in the rain and not being able to cook in the snug. We had to spend more money than intended eating out when thats really not the ... |

Over all very happy Sarah V. (Young couple, 1 review, 0 photos) Confirmed ?
Liked: Loved our first time in a snug, so nice to have a few comforts. Having own code into a toilet and shower block was a bonus, cleaned every day. Disliked: Our last night a large LOUD family turned up with with another family and about 6 boys between them and two yappie dogs which they were happy to let bark. Not sure if you could put a tent up next to a snug and fit so many people in there. |

A fantastic 3night stay in a SNUG. Definitely going again. Terence C. (Family with young children, 1 review, 0 photos) Confirmed ?
Liked: The convenience of the snug, especially having electric -- cant beat a cup of tea at bedtime. Disliked: There was nothing I disliked. |

We stayed in the snugs - excellent value, warm and cosy Ceri E. (Family with young children, 1 review, 0 photos) Confirmed ?
Liked: The snugs were clean, and comfortable, and very warm and dry on a very rainy bank holiday Monday! Disliked: The no pup tents or awnings rules for the snugs means you can struggle to cook if it is raining, as there's no shelter. |

Thank you for the review. The Snugs have gone down a storm this year and at present we are looking around for next years new Glamping project. Sheppard's Huts or Geo Domes??? Or Both??. Watch this space. The breakfast is a winner. We are glad that we are closed now for a few months so a diet can start before more breakfasts can be consumed in 2012. See you next year. Very good, would recommend it. Jessica T. (Family with older children, 1 review, 0 photos) Confirmed ?
Liked: - The cleanliness of the 'snug' Disliked: - The bar on the campsite, thought it was lacking atmosphere and was a bit dated

Thank you so much for your review. The snugs have been great this year and so far people have really enjoyed them. You will be glad to know we have started building our new clubhouse that will be up and running by August 2012. And we have put the plans n place for the BBQ areas for the Snugs. We ran out of time last year before we opened and never have a slot when we could build them. Looking forward to showing you around the clubhouse next year. The Riverside team. |

Liked: really friendly staff and extremely clean Disliked: can't think of anything
From the manager...
Thank you for the positive scores and feedback. We do take pride in our staff selection and feel that we may not be the smartest park around, but we are one of the cleanest. We have just finished the 2011 season and are glad to hear that our same team are coming back for 2012. The new clubhouse is under way and the new Glamping ideas are being looked at so 2012 is looking busy already. Hope you can join us too. The Riverside Team |
