Shrug off the naysayers, and hang out with the neigh-sayers instead. Holistic harmony and happy horses are the order of the day at tranquil, eco-friendly Broadmeadow: at this adult-only site in the glorious Shropshire Hills, near Church Stretton and the Long Mynd (perfect for picturesque hacks), you can bring your trusty steed along for the ride too.
By day, visitors can indulge in some reiki or shiatsu, learn new skills in a holistic workshop, or simply breeze along the beautiful bridleways (there’s a choice of nine around and about), tucked into in a quiet corner of this lovely site in 15 acres of ancient meadows.
Your equine companion, meanwhile, can stay in a lush grass paddock a sugar lump’s throw away, and you can even take an interactive workshop together. Alternatively, relax by the babbling brook, go heron-spotting in the marshland conservation area, or take a short stroll up the road for some trout fishing.
As well as showers and loos (including disabled facilities) and an open air washing up area, you’ll find a shop selling a good range of fresh local produce and essential camping kit. There’s wifi coverage across many areas of the site, and well-behaved (and supervised) dogs are welcome too.

Nearby attractions and activities
Next door to Broadmeadow is The Pound, a splendid thatched inn dating back to the fifteenth century, with a tasty line in hearty grub. The local village of Leebotwood also has tea rooms and a farm shop.
You’ll have a perfectly pleasant time whiling away the day in the market town of Church Stretton, three miles away; it has a leisure centre, bike hire, and some good independent shops (including a great deli and a couple of excellent outlets for camping and outdoor leisure gear). Church Stretton also offers a variety of food options, including some cute cafés, foodie pubs, Chinese and Indian restaurants, and various takeaways.
The local Stretton Hills and the Long Mynd offer fabulous riding, walking and cycling, with an abundance of well-marked trails. The Long Mynd is also popular for paragliding, hot air ballooning and gliding, and at the bottom of the Lawley hill you’ll find the Hillview trout fishery.
There are some wonderful places to visit within a relatively small radius of Broadmeadow. Top recommendations include: Ludlow, for its luscious architecture and fab new spa; the medieval county town of Shrewsbury, whose narrow streets are packed with more than 600 listed buildings, and plenty of smart shops; historic Ironbridge, a World Heritage site with ten museums packed along the river banks; and magnificent Powis Castle, just over the Welsh border.

First time in a pod - won't be our last. Anne J. (Mature couple, 1 review, 0 photos) Confirmed ?
Liked: Broadmeadow's a lovely site in a picturesque setting and the Pod is really warm and comfortable. The facilities are great with free, hot, easily operated showers. The whole site has a relaxed atmosphere and it was easy to unwind there. Disliked: Not much to dislike. The reception times are a bit 'creative' which led to a bit of confusion when it was time to hand back the Pod keys. A letter box where we could drop them off would easily solve that.
From the manager...
Thank you so much for lovely review.... In answer to your reception worries, it is hard for us to be around the reception area all day as we run a very hands on site. There is always a member of staff about the site to ask advice or help in some way. I am very sorry you found it hard to drop the keys off, we are looking into this. We really hope this would not stop you from visiting us again. Thank you. |

Many thanks for your review of our site. It is always really good to hear people's thoughts. we like to sort and listen to anything that may not be quite right. We try to be as eco friendly as possible and we have tried to work out away to get hot water to the centre wash point, however this can not happen and we find that it is easy for people to boil there camping kettles etc for hot water. If at any point on your stay and you are wanting a good amount of hot water, if you just ask the staff we will be only too happy to help. We hope this helps and does not put you off coming again. Many thanks....
