General

  • Water- and land-based event centre in 270 acres of parkland
  • Easy access to Nottingham city centre, rail network and airport
  • Country walks, nature trails and lots to do for kids

What do you reckon is the main flavour of activities at this Nottinghamshire site? Yup, top of the menu at the National Water Sports Centre near Nottingham are all sorts of watersports: you'll be able to tackle a whitewater course for canoeing, kayaking, rafting and tubing; a waterpark with cableway for wakeboarding; paddleboarding, open-top canoeing, turbo paddling and open-water swimming.

But! This is a land-based activity centre too, so if you don't fancy plunging into the foamy depths or would quite like to stay dry for a day, other options can be tackled at the outdoor adventure zone where there's an aerial adventure course, miniature golf, Segway hire, play area and mini e-combat, as well as a footgolf course. An assault course, country walks and nature zones are also on site (please note some activities are subject to availability and must be booked at reception).

Feeling a bit faint just from reading all this and think you'd rather spectate? The centre has kindly included a country park café and a regatta lake where it hosts its own events like rowing and canoe regattas, dragonboat racing and triathlons. Lots is on offer too to keep the kids amused, including outdoor table tennis, a volleyball/badminton court, a woodland adventure playground and a nature trail a short stroll away.

Although all this energetic excellence is only 10 minutes from Nottingham city centre, it's well into the countryside and away from anything townie, as it's deep in the 270 acres of parkland of Holme Pierrepont Country Park. The campsite part of the park covers 18 acres and has a facilities block with showers and toilets, and a site shop selling groceries and camping supplies.

Please note

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Dogs are not allowed in the accommodation units.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act.

The pods are simple but waterproof and ideal for winter ... 26/11/2018

Reviewer's country: United Kingdom Anonymous Confirmed

  • Camping pod (2 adults and 1 child)
  • Recommend to friends   Visit again
  • Liked:

The pods are simple but waterproof and ideal for winter camping. There is space for parking next to the pod. The toilet facilities are clean with hot, good flow showers. Have stayed a few times and facilities always up to standard.

    Disliked:

Only improvement would be perhaps the addition of webbed matting on the grass in front of the pod leading to the road and around the water station. It was muddy at the weekend and this would have reduced mud flow into the pod (although shoes off at the door helped).

Not having to pitch a tent.

    Disliked:

Everyone else on site that I spoke to booked direct through HPP and not pitch up and paid half of what i did. V disappointed. Won’t go through pitch up again, will just go direct. Lessons learnt.

From the manager...

Thankyou for your review and our standard pods are exactly that , a wooden tent to save you bringing one and they obviously keep you a bit warmer with electric sockets. Why not try our deluxe ones next time as these have heaters and are fully furnished. The reason for the difference in your pricing is because we have gone live with a 241 offer however unfortunately you booked before the offer was in place therefor wasn't eligible.

Arrived at 4:30pm sign on a fence to saying if no one available at camp go to main reception, where is that?
Site ok but the male shower block was old, drab, with very tiny shower cubicles nowhere dry to stand to dress.
Shower block was deffinatly in need of a deep clean and refreshing.

From the manager...

Thankyou for your review . Our campsite reception isn't open every day in the winter months due to demand however there is a full list of what to do and who to call to do this. There is also an emergency phone for customers to use just in case they don't have one and the reception is just the other end of the campsite a short distance. All our shower blocks including the two brand new purpose built ones have an area to dry and hang up your clothes one side of the curtain. With it being winter we are rotating all our buildings on a winter deep clean.

Better wash facilities, very little space to put your stuff no mixer taps so very hot showers and tap water. Facilities clean though.

From the manager...

We have just added several brand new showers to the park in out 2 purpose built blocks and these have been received extremely well. Our showers are set to an average blended temperature so that they are never to hot or cold. Our pot washing stations are set on mixer taps to help with the job to hand . Thanks for your review
