General

  • Water- and land-based event centre in 270 acres of parkland
  • Easy access to Nottingham city centre, rail network and airport
  • Country walks, nature trails and lots to do for kids

What do you reckon is the main flavour of activities at this Nottinghamshire site? Yup, top of the menu at the National Water Sports Centre near Nottingham are all sorts of watersports: you'll be able to tackle a whitewater course for canoeing, kayaking, rafting and tubing; a waterpark with cableway for wakeboarding; paddleboarding, open-top canoeing, turbo paddling and open-water swimming.

But! This is a land-based activity centre too, so if you don't fancy plunging into the foamy depths/would quite like to stay dry for a day, other options can be tackled at the outdoor adventure zone where there's an aerial adventure course, mini golf, Segway hire, play area and mini e-combat, as well as a newly created footgolf course.

There's also an assault course, country walks and nature zones on site (please note some activities are subject to availability and must be booked at reception).

Feeling a bit faint just from reading all this and think you'd rather spectate? The centre has kindly included a country park café and a regatta lake where it hosts its own events like rowing and canoe regattas, dragon boat racing and triathlons.

Although all this energetic excellence is only 10 minutes from Nottingham city centre, it's well into the shire countryside and away from anything townie, as it's deep in the 270 acres of parkland of Holme Pierrepont Country Park.

The campsite part of the park covers 18 acres and has a facilities block with showers and toilets, and a site shop selling groceries and camping supplies.

Lots is on offer too to keep the kids amused, including outdoor table tennis, a volleyball/badminton court, a woodland adventure playground and a nature trail just a short stroll away.

Please note

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Dogs are not allowed in the accommodation units.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act.

    Flat pitch.

    Disliked:

No staff at campsite. No one at campsite reception at busiest time of arrivals on Friday evening. Unsupervised noisy campers and dogs running lose on site leaving their business. Showers good but cleanliness of toilet blocks and showers poor. Elsan point unmaintained, dirty and leaking. Rubbish/recycling facilities lacking.

Would NOT stay here again or recommend this site. 10/09/2018

Close to Nottingham; friendly welcome by helpful reception staff.

    Disliked:

Dirty sub-standard toilet & shower block; poor/basic standard of other facilities.
The older toilet block was filthy despite it had supposedly been cleaned shortly before. The shower cubicles were unvented plastic cubicles with very hot water with no heating controls, no shower curtain and no hooks for dry clothes. Hot, airless and unbearable! The toilets themselves were filthy. The replacement portacabins were marginally better.
The site is quite large and although reasonably well kept (grass cut etc) it lacked any character at all. The motorhome ‘service point’ was simply a standpipe and drain in a muddy part of the site under trees. Other services were of a similar ‘basic’ standard and not much better than if we camped in a field. We did have electric hookup and a gravel hard standing pitch.
The site is obviously well used but lacks any significant maintenance. It is close to Nottingham and within walking distance of the Water Centre but I wouldn’t stay here again. If you need to camp in the area then find an alternative site.
