Local attractions

Stroll along the beautiful Gunthorpe Lock and enjoy a picnic if the weather is good. Cross the famous Gunthorpe Bridge, originally built in 1875 and enjoy a walk along the River Trent, once an important trading route. Discover Nottingham, just 10 minutes away and explore the famous Sherwood Forest. Stroll along the Old Market Square, one of the largest market squares in Europe, visit the Nottingham Castle or attend a show at the Nottingham Playhouse. There is also the Newstead Abbey, originally built as a monastic house in the late twelfth century, then home to Lord Byron between 1808 - 1814.
