Take time out for a spot of fishing on the River Severn, followed by a drink in the fifteenth century inn that graces the banks, where the views are as tasty as the food and drink...
This is a small, friendly site, and you couldn’t ask for more in terms of location: despite being encircled by bucolically beautiful scenery, with the river (and pub) a mere hundred yards away, it’s only a short walk into the lovely historic town of Tewkesbury.
The newly landscaped pitches for tourers and motorhomes at The Willows Caravan Park are hardstanding and fully serviced, and you can pick up your fresh water fishing permit in the pub (as if you needed an excuse for a visit).
Nearby attractions and activities
Slotted into a slender strip of land at the meeting point of the Severn and Avon rivers, Tewkesbury hasn’t changed much over the centuries: black and white Tudor buildings overhang the narrow streets, and the imposing twelfth century abbey has the highest Norman tower in England. There are town and country museums to explore, historic buildings like the Old Baptist Chapel, plus shops and entertainment aplenty.
The local countryside and riverbanks are great for ramblers, and guests will find boat and bike hire, windsurfing and golf courses nearby. Also on your doorstep are the golden villages and verdant hills of the Cotswolds, and attractive provincial towns and cities such as Cheltenham and Gloucester.

Ok for a base camp but nothing close by, trishy1966 (Mature couple, 1 review, 0 photos)
Liked: the pitches are big hard standings with a water and electric point, The site is close to the river for fishing and a nice walk to the working lock, the local pub which again is virtually on site is welcoming and serves good food. Disliked: the adjoining sites dogs are allowed to roam free and mess on the Willows site. Only one shower which is £1 for 7 mins which is ok but not long enough for ladies with long hair, no privacy between pitches. The lane leading to the site is very narrow and not sign posted so when you get to the small crossroads follow the sign which reads "Lower Lode no through road" but drive slowly as ... |

Liked: Being surrounded by nature! The manager was very helpful and even fixed a water problem on our van! Nicely spaced out plots with water and power to each. Being so close to such a nice pub!! Disliked: Narrow lane on approach, plenty of room but we were a bit nervous! |
