Liked: Stunning location, sitting in the middle of gorgeous Edale, in a large field with no pitches and a river busying past at the bottom. Basic - one tap and two clean toilets - but that's how I like it. Hardly anyone else there and a vigorous stroll away from Jacob's Ladder and the start of the Pennine Way. Kids loved playing in the open space and the river. Cheap as chips. Disliked: If you're a light sleeper the neighbouring sheep, river, adjacent railway line and occasional aeroplane (Manchester airport?) might disturb you. That said, I sleep fairly lightly and they didn't bother me. The toilets are 5 mins walk, back at the farmhouse. |
